Futurebirds

Futurebirds are back—and Nantucket knows what that means.

Nantucket’s favorite band returns to The Muse on 9/2, bringing their signature blend of cosmic country, indie rock, and Southern soul back to the island they’ve made a second home. Formed in Athens, Georgia in 2008, Futurebirds have spent more than 15 years carving out a sound that’s entirely their own—equal parts electrified folk, pedal steel haze, and psychedelic-tinged Americana.

At the heart of it all are three distinct voices—Thomas Johnson, Carter King, and Daniel Womack—whose songwriting styles collide to create a rich, expansive catalog that feels both loose and deeply intentional. That chemistry has carried them from college house parties to iconic stages like The Ryman and The Fillmore, while sharing bills with acts like Widespread Panic, Drive-By Truckers, Grace Potter, and The Head and the Heart.

Their latest album Easy Company finds the band at a new high point—a celebration of the friendships and creative bond that have kept them going since day one. It’s a record that leans into everything fans love about Futurebirds: layered guitars, drifting melodies, and that unmistakable cosmic-country atmosphere.

Over the years, they’ve built more than a following—they’ve built a community. The Birdfam.

And every time they come back to Nantucket, it shows.

Don’t miss Futurebirds live at The Muse on 9/2.
